Say hello to our directors!

Our four directors provide the vision, leadership and strategic direction for TTS.  If you’d like to know more about them – from career histories to more personal insights, like who spent a summer as a football coach in the USA – please take a look at the profiles below.

Andy Wilson

I’ve been at TTS since 2009, but it doesn’t feel anywhere near that long!  My role as Managing Director is to ensure that we are a very successful growing global company, which continually develops brilliant products and has great future plans. This is complemented by having a fantastic workforce, performing at a very high level every single day who are ambitious, dedicated, collaborative and completely focused on delighting our customers.
My working career has been deliberately very varied. After student holiday jobs at a supermarket, and as a greengrocer's driver (with a daily start time of 3 a.m.), I started my career in September 1987 following a summer spent as a football coach in the USA. My first job was in sales with Mars, where I also worked in production, as well taking a supply chain role for Mars in Australia.

Over time I have worked in some great market leading companies; and with many great people at Mars, Holsten, United Biscuits, Dyson, Whirlpool Appliances and Anglian Home Improvements. Innovation is a key aspect of life here at TTS. Products I love include both the rustic caravan (only TTS would design and make a wonderful resource like this for Early Years) and the Blue-Bot (a blue-tooth enabled evolution of Bee-Bot, which is perfect for the programming element of the computing curriculum, as well as being an incredibly versatile cross-curricular resource).
Outside work, I spend as much time as I can with my wife Angela and my two sons. I love travelling, football, playing golf, and trying to keep fit by running and cycling. I completed the New York marathon - never again!

Cath Jeffrey

I’ve been at TTS since 2006 and in so many ways I have my dream job. The road was not direct though and along the way I have been fortunate to have sat in almost every seat: teacher, buyer, seller, product developer, manager and marketer.  I’ve worked with and continue to work with the most amazing, gifted and dedicated people.
As well as being Deputy MD, I am also responsible for our wonderful and enthusiastic marketing team of 55 hard-working, sparkly people. This team make things happen, turning over 2,500 ideas from teachers, advisors and practitioners into resources that sell to every school in the UK and to 64 different countries. They meet with over 1,200 of our customers each and every year, to ensure that we know what they want and need and to make sure that our research is thorough. Our aim is to give every child, every day, a reason to love learning and we do that by loving what we do, by learning every day and by always aiming to be the very best we can.

The TTS writing slope is one of my favourite innovations. After meeting with a passionate Occupational Therapist called Alison Harris it was clear that writing slopes were great for helping children improve their writing, however a lot of those available were big, bulky, wooden and had a stigma attached to them. The TTS team created a cool, neat, stackable slope that children would be happy and eager to use and nine years later, we have a complete range and sell thousands worldwide.
In my free time, I like to fill my home with people I love as well as run, walk, cycle, sail, paint, sew and knit.

It feels like yesterday that I joined TTS, when it has in fact been almost 10 years! This is largely because it is such as special place to work; you trip over energy, passion and smiley people every day on the way in – I’m always amazed at how many great people we can cram into this little corner of Nottinghamshire.
Prior to working at TTS I worked as manufacturing manager for our parent company RM Group. My first encounter with TTS was supporting its acquisition by RM. Although it was only a small snapshot of the business I knew it was somewhere that had potential and felt exciting.  Twelve months later I moved to Nottinghamshire to start the next chapter of my career with TTS!
My overall responsibility is end to end supply chain, ensuring that operationally we deliver the best customer experience. The areas which fall under the operations function are Customer Experience (UK & International), Purchasing (Including Quality, NPD/E-NPD and Forecasting) Distribution and Business Systems & Improvement.

My favourite things about working at TTS range from seeing individuals and products develop to their full potential through to the constant challenge to improve what we do every day. I couldn’t pick a favourite product though, it’s just too difficult. It’s more the concept of new products. Creating something from nothing and doing it 400 times every year, year in, year out, is just unique.
Outside of work I really enjoy cooking for family and friends, however cycling and just being in the outdoors are always competing for my spare time.
