Crumble Robotic Vehicle Class Kit

A cross-curricular STEM kit for 30 pupils working in groups of 3 to construct a steerable motor/pulley driven vehicle and program it using the Crumble controller.

  • Pupils can also include a headlight that automatically comes on in the dark. This kit is recommended for upper Key Stage 2 pupils, or for those who have already completed the projects in the Crumble Class Kit.

  • The vehicles will go at different speeds forwards, backwards, turn and spin on their axis. They can be programmed to go around a course, do a three-point turn or parallel park. The Crumble controller is easy to connect up and uses a simple drag and drop programming language similar to Scratch. It directly drives two motors as well as four input/outputs suitable for LEDs and LDRs.

  • Created by mechanical engineer Caroline Alliston. Supporting literature includes a lesson plan, PowerPoint, pupil worksheet and ‘how to’ blog.
